Date: July 25th 2014.

Set to release their long-awaited A Better Tomorrow in the not too distant futurethe first studio album since 2007’s 8 Diagrams, legendary Hip-Hop collective Wu-Tang Clan have maintained one of the most unfathomed urban music legacies of all time. Having released their incredible debut Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) back in 1993, as well as each pursuing solo careers alongside their respective outfit.

So with a brand new album – Fly International Luxurious Art – under his belt, collective member Raekwon brought the ruckus to London’s Brooklyn Bowl tonight. Arriving late due to problems entering the country through airport customs, draped in a Nike tracksuit and remarkably oversized lavish diamond ring, the iconic rapper began proceedings with a tight rendition of Wu-Tang classic C.R.E.A.M, just one of the classics delivered through his curfew busting set. Also joined by the likes of Wu-Tang Ain’t Nuthin’ To F’ Wit and debut single Protect Ya Neck to name just a couple of tracks performed while sharing two bottles of Hennessy and a  bottle of champagne with an intimate crowd of adoring fans. While songs such as 1995 Raekwon single Ice Cream and the Nas and Ghostface Killah featuring Verbal Intercourse also managed to work their way into the set, not forgetting a tribute to deceased Wu-Tang member Old Dirty Bastard.

Although tonight’s show was more intimate than perhaps planned, Raekwon still shows no signs of slowing down, embracing the out-of-character half-filled venue crowd within one of the rapper’s favourite cities. Making us all incredibly excited to hear the brand new Wu-Tang Clan album that seems to be taking forever to finally arrive.
